Parks Department
Welcome to the Burns Harbor Park Department, a not-for-profit entity located in Burns Harbor, Indiana. The Burns Harbor Park Department serves town and community residents with outdoor, family-friendly recreation.
Our playgrounds located at Lakeland Park are ADA accessible.
Lakeland Park, Shadyside Park, and Bolinger Park are overseen by park staff year-round. The park office and maintenance garage are located at Lakeland Park.
MISSION STATEMENT
To improve the quality of life for the surrounding community and provide safe recreational facilities and programs for all ages. By preserving, protecting, and enhancing the parks for the benefits of citizens and visitors, we shall provide leisure time opportunities and park development that will enhance the health, happiness, and morale of the community.
Our three park locations, Lakeland Park, Bolinger Park, and Shadyside Park, provide community and neighboring residents with several options for outdoor recreation. | |

Shelter and facility rentals are available at Lakeland Park year round.
Seven rental options are available.
Memorial Day-Labor Day rentals are in popular demand, be sure to book in advance. Please review the following rules before making a reservation:
- Deposit for rental must be paid 2 weeks in advance.
- Rentals may take place between 9:00am-9:00pm
- During the season, the beach is open 10:00am-6:00pm weather permitting.
- Drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited on all park grounds.
- Smoking on the beach or around buildings is strictly prohibited.
- All garbage must be emptied and the area rented must be clean to get the deposit refunded.
- Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day weekend there is a $5 parking fee for every car. Rentals are allotted 2 free cars per rental facility.

Community Comes Together for Rebuilding Together Duneland

Rebuilding Together Duneland is an organization that gets personal with its community. On April 30, 498 volunteers gathered at Westchester Middle School in Chesterton for their annual series of remodeling projects. Each team would go to an individual home or public site and make it into a better place to be.
