The Town of Burns Harbor has been upgrading roadway infrastructure over the past few years, and the Town has received grant approval from INDOT’s Community Crossing Matching Grant Program for roadway reconstruction or repaving this season that may affect your neighborhood.
As part of the upcoming roadway improvements, Rieth-Riley has begun sidewalk removal & replacement work. On Friday, June 23, soil and mulched seeding will be placed around the areas disturbed by the new concrete sidewalk ramps in Harbor Trail and The Village in Burns Harbor. Please keep cars clear of these areas on Friday, June 23.
Milling work is scheduled to start on Monday, June 26 on S. Boo Road and progress to the other streets throughout the week.
Please do not remove utility locate flags and be on the lookout for concrete trucks. Do not step in our touch fresh concrete and please refrain from parking near construction.
The sidewalk location order is as follows:
- Intersection of S. Boo Road and Salt Creek Rd.
- Intersection of S. Boo Road and Whitney St.
- Intersection of S. Boo Road and Tanya St.
- Intersection of S. Boo Road and Carol St.
- Intersection of Chesterfield Ave. and Clifford Way
- Intersection of Chesterfield Ave. and Harbor Way
- Intersection of Sherman Ave. and Harbor Way
- Intersection of Sherman Ave. and Burns Blvd.
- Intersection of Harbor Way and Village Square North
- Intersection of Harbor Way and Village Square South
During the summer (timeline TBD), the following roads will be paved:
- Oak Leaf Lane from Shadyside Road to McCool Road
- Old Porter Road from SR 149 to Babcock Road
- South Boo Road from Salt Creek Road to Carol Street
- Chesterfield Ave from South Boo Road to Harbor Way
- Harbor Way from South End to Chesterfield Ave
- Sherman Ave from Burns Blvd. to Harbor Way
- Castle Street from Haglund Road to North End
- Navajo Trail from SR 149 to West End
