[ARCHIVED] Street Sweeping to start Friday, Sept. 29th

UPDATE (10/2/2023):  Street sweeping will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 3 and will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. in Harbor Trails subdivision.  Please refrain from on-street parking.

Street sweeping is complete in the following areas/streets: The Village in Burns Harbor, Corlin's Landing, Trailcreek, Parkwood Estates, Coan Street, Castle Street, Stanley Street, Riverside Drive and Meadowbrook Road.

Street sweeping throughout Burns Harbor will begin on Friday, September 29, 2023. All public streets will be swept town-wide and should be completed by Friday, October 6, 2023. Sweeping will start in the Village of Burns Harbor subdivision on Friday at 8 a.m., and will progress on to Corlin’s Landing, Trailcreek and Parkwood Estates as time allows.  There will not be any sweeping on Saturday or Sunday and the remaining schedule will be announced as progress is made. Please be sure to watch for updates to the schedule.

We ask residents and business owners to move their parked cars off the street on the days sweeping is scheduled to occur in your area to allow workers room to sweep the curb lanes of their street. One parked car equals nearly three car lengths of space that can’t be swept because the street sweeper must leave room to avoid it.

The primary purpose of sweeping streets is to remove dirt, litter and debris from curbs to prevent materials from contaminating ground water, surface water, soil and our waterways.

Please note that the schedule is subject to change due to weather, staffing or emergencies. For questions, or more information about street sweeping, call the Burns Harbor Street Department at (219) 787-9187.
