[ARCHIVED] Town Marshal Heckman retires

Marshal edited

Burns Harbor Town Marshal Michael Heckman has officially retired after more than 15 years of service to the Town of Burns Harbor, with 10 of those years serving as our Town Marshal. He announced his intention to retire at the August Town Council meeting.  He will fondly be remembered in the community as a hardworking, committed, friendly person who would always stop to say hello to all the kids in town.

Heckman graciously thanked the Town Council for the opportunity to serve the community. “It is now time to transfer the torch and with that being said, I placed a young officer in a position six years ago as Assistant Marshal. He has been by my side every day since then. He has proven to me that he has the ability to run the department and bring in new ideas while keeping the Town running in a professional manner that will make me and the Town of Burns Harbor proud,” said Heckman. “My request is to name Jeremy McHargue the next Town Marshal for Burns Harbor.”

In a unanimous vote, the Town Council appointed Jeremy McHargue to take the reins on September 1st as the next Town Marshal.

Congratulations to both Michael Heckman and Jeremy McHargue as they begin the next chapter in their lives.
