[ARCHIVED] Street Sweeping scheduled for Wednesday, May 19

Street sweeiping 2021 for newsflash

Street sweeping is now scheduled to occur on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.  Unfortunately, a conflict prevented the previously scheduled sweep.  All public streets will be swept town-wide. The primary purpose of sweeping streets is to remove dirt, litter and debris from curbs to prevent materials from being washed by rain into storm sewers and local waterways.

We ask residents and business owners to move their parked cars off the street on the sweeping date to allow workers room to sweep the curb lanes of their street.  One parked car equals nearly three car lengths of space that can’t be swept because the street sweeper must leave room to avoid it.

Please note that the schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment maintenance or emergencies. For questions, or more information about street sweeping, call the Burns Harbor Street Department at (219) 787-9187.
