Mrs. Burton has dedicated more than two decades to the Town of Burns Harbor, serving as the Park Department Director since 1998 and as Assistant Director for the two years prior. 

Outside of her official parks duties, Mrs. Burton is an active member of her community. Since 1998, she has volunteered on the Town Picnic planning committee. She has been a member of the Duneland Exchange Club for 15 years, volunteered as House Captain for Rebuilding Together Duneland for five years and raises funds for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Previously, she was a member of the Westport Community Club.

A Chesterton High School alumna, she has worked for the Duneland School Corporation since 1999 as a school bus driver. Additionally, she was a Title 1 Aide during the 2002-2003 school year.

Mrs. Burton called Burns Harbor home in the early to mid-1990s. She and her husband, Rick Burton, currently live in rural Northeast Porter County with their three children Corey, Riley and Anna.

A passionate mentor and humble leader, Mrs. Burton hopes to continue to expand the Park Department's programs, events, amenities and services to be all-inclusive for all ages and all members of the local and larger community.

"I love to bring programs to the parks that reach the community. I enjoy working outdoors and with all the employees," she said. "I am always open and encourage the community to contact me with suggestions or comments about the parks."
